Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and manage a team of warehouse staff. This includes setting daily tasks, providing training and coaching, conducting performance evaluations, and handling disciplinary issues.
- Oversee all daily warehouse activities, including:
- Coordinating the receipt of incoming goods and ensuring accuracy of shipments.
- Maintaining accurate inventory records, conducting regular stock counts (cycle counts and full stock takes), and managing stock levels.
- Optimizing warehouse space and ensuring goods are stored safely and in an organized manner.
- Supervising the picking, packing, and shipping processes to ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.
- Enforce and maintain strict adherence to health and safety regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures. This includes ensuring a clean and safe work environment and proper use of equipment.
- Analyze warehouse performance metrics and identify areas for improvement. Implement new procedures or adjust existing ones to increase productivity, reduce costs, and enhance overall efficiency.
- Work closely with other departments (e.g., procurement, customer service, logistics) to ensure a seamless workflow and resolve any issues.
- Oversee the maintenance and proper use of warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on warehouse operations, including productivity, inventory levels, and shipping/receiving accuracy.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
- A strong understanding of warehouse operations, including receiving, inventory management, and shipping procedures.
- The ability to identify issues, analyze data, and implement effective solutions to operational challenges.
- Excellent time management, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software, as well as general computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- The role may require physical work and standing for extended periods.
