Trade Compliance Specialist – Precision. Strategy. Impact.
My international client based in the North of Mauritius is looking to appoint a Trade Compliance Specialist who is not just detail-oriented, but who thinks globally, acts decisively, and executes with precision. This role sits at the intersection of international trade strategy, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence—perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.

Qualifications required:

  • A strong academic track record—exemplary high school results a must
  • A Bachelor’s degree (preferably in a STEM or analytical field)
  • Postgraduate qualifications (Honours or higher) will set you apart

Skills and experience required:

  • Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal, with fluency in professional English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook – this role demands daily usage and data manipulation
  • Process-oriented and self-driven, with a passion for accuracy and continuous improvement
  • Cross-functional collaborator – skilled in navigating complex internal and external stakeholder dynamics
  • Project leadership – capable of managing multiple, high-value international shipments and compliance projects concurrently
  • Analytical mindset – research-savvy, solutions-oriented, and comfortable interpreting regulatory frameworks under pressure

Job description:

  • Own the Compliance Ecosystem: Apply deep expertise in international duties, taxes, levies, product classification, and licensing and permit frameworks—along with product testing and certification standards—to keep their global supply chain agile and compliant.
  • Drive Documentation Strategy: Lead the end-to-end process of sourcing, verifying, and managing product compliance documentation. Collaborate cross-functionally with OEMs, global tech manufacturers, and internal logistics teams to align on product specs, timelines, and regulatory obligations.
  • Risk Mitigation & Stakeholder Alignment: Translate regulatory complexity into proactive, commercially aligned solutions. Manage competing priorities and mitigate risks through clear, confident communication and strategic problem-solving.
  • Enable Clearance Success: Deliver accurate, time-sensitive compliance frameworks that ensure seamless border clearance, drive customer satisfaction, and uphold commitment to operational excellence.
  • Data-Driven Compliance: Leverage system insights and trade data to identify process bottlenecks and build smarter, faster trade workflows.
