Our client in the financial sector is seeking to recruit a Sustainability Officer who will provide support to the company in its journey to becoming a leading sustainable insurer in the local market and make a positive impact on society, the environment and other stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement long-term sustainability strategic plans based on the Group Strategy, market trends, regulatory requirements and the Board's objectives.
  • Establish key performance indicators and objectives for each strategic deliverable and track the Group's execution progress towards those goals.
  • Collaborate with the management team to translate the sustainability strategy into action across business units, co-ordinate delivery and measure, monitor and track execution.
  • Conduct sustainability assessments in respect of the Group's sustainability practices (including environmental and social impact) and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with the management team and with stakeholders such as employees, customers, suppliers, external organisations, appointed consultants and government agencies and help integrate sustainability into the Group's operations and culture and advance sustainability strategy and initiatives.
  • Stay informed on best practices and keep abreast of both local and global developments in climate change and sustainability by continually researching industry trends worldwide.
  • Monitor compliance to ensure that the Group complies with relevant environmental regulations and standards.
  • Maintain compliance with the Group's governance and policy standards.
  • Conduct due diligence for all Sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) projects as necessary.
  • Develop and deliver sustainability training to employees to raise awareness of sustainability issues and promote sustainable practices within the Group.
  • Prepare the Group's Sustainability Report to report on achievements made to the Board and its relevant sub-committee.
  • Communicate sustainability initiatives to internal and external stakeholders through reports, presentations, and other communication channels.
  • Submit official progress reports annually and follow up on the commitments taken.
Profiles:

  • Degree in Sustainability related field such as Sustainable Finance, Investment, Environmental Engineering, or as acceptable to the Company with at least 4 years relevant work experience in a similar role.
  • Certifications in a related field such as Green and Sustainable Finance/ ESG Investing/ Environmental science/ Sustainability or Climate Change as acceptable to the Company would be an advantage.
  • Self-driven, passionate and team player.
  • Experience in Project management.
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills.
  • Ability to understand operations and different business segments in the insurance industry.
  • Ability to drive change management.
