Job Profile
The Survey Assistant will be called upon to support the Land Survey Technician and Land Surveyor with site and office duties.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Open lines and clear bushes for survey operations and measurements as and when required
  • Fixing of Iron pegs for control points, boundary and marking the appropriate points with paint for visibility and preservation of the marks.
  • Operate advanced survey instruments like GPS and Total Station while establishing survey control, setting of survey Control Marks and gathering of field data;
  • Research, analyse, and interpret evidence to determine land boundary locations, retrace survey maps and land descriptions;
  • Perform cadastral surveys according to Cadastral Survey Act and topographical surveys under guidance of the Land Surveyor;
  • Keep proper records of field books, survey notes and any other field notes for proper traceability and checks of survey field work;
  • Carry out searches at the Registrar-General’s department, the Archives Unit of the Ministry of Housing and Lands, the Supreme Court and at any other body for data acquisition regarding land ownership;
  • Draft land survey reports and memorandum of survey from finalised survey plans
  • Prepare detailed plans using AutoCAD software and any other software package as may be required;
  • Examine proposed subdivision plans and registered Land Survey plan and reports as well as performing other related office functions;
  • Perform work in quality assurance and editing through research, coordinate geometry analysis, digitizing, plan checking and consulting with others;
  • Utilise CAD software to perform coordinate geometry computations and drafting for preparation/review of land survey plans or documents;
  • Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by your reporting line.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • Minimum HSC qualification and/or Diploma level
  • Basic knowledge of land surveying
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English and French
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Adaptable and flexible, with a positive approach to change and challenges
  • Collaborative team player, committed to collective success and growth
