A Stockroom Supervisor oversees daily stockroom operations, ensuring proper storage, accurate inventory control, and timely issuance of goods. They supervise staff, maintain stock records, and ensure compliance with safety and company procedures.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONBILITIES

Inventory Management:

−        Supervise the receipt, storage and organisation of goods, ensuring that inventory is correctly accounted for and properly stored.

−        Ensure that stock is rotated regularly (e.g. FIFO) and that older items are moved to prevent spoilage or obsolescence.

−        Collaborate with other departments (e.g. purchasing, sales) to ensure that products are stocked in the correct quantities and on time.

Stockroom Organisation:

−        Maintain a clean, organised and safe stockroom environment, ensuring that products are stored in an orderly manner and easy to access.

−        Implement effective stock labelling and shelving systems to maximise space and improve efficiency.

−        Ensure proper storage conditions for different types of products (e.g. perishables, fragile items, hazardous materials).

Team Supervision:

−        Supervise stockroom staff, including stock clerks and inventory assistants, ensuring that tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.

−        Assign daily tasks, track staff performance and ensure that all team members are properly trained on safety and inventory procedures.

Receiving and Stock Replenishment:

−        Supervise the interdepartmental transfers, unpacking and inspection of goods, ensuring good receipt of all items.

−        Coordinate with the front-end and sales teams to ensure that stock levels are sufficient for customer demand, making adjustments to stockroom organisation as necessary.

Inventory Accuracy and Reporting:

−        Conduct regular cycle counts or stock audits to ensure inventory records match physical stock levels.

−        Investigate and resolve discrepancies between inventory records and physical stock, reporting any significant issues to store management.

−        Provide regular reports on inventory levels, damaged goods, stockouts and any trends or issues related to stock movement.

Health, Safety and Security:

−        Enforce safety procedures for handling heavy or hazardous materials in the stockroom.

−        Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper handling, storage and disposal of goods.

−        Monitor stockroom security to prevent theft, loss or damage to inventory and ensure that stockroom doors and access points are secure.

Product Movement and Order Fulfilment:

−        Coordinate the transfer of stock to the sales floor in a timely manner, ensuring that the store shelves are adequately stocked and replenished.

−        Assist with order fulfilment for special orders or customer requests, ensuring that products are located and delivered to the relevant department or customer.

−        Ensure that back stock is easily accessible and that surplus inventory is stored efficiently.
