We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sommelier Supervisor to join our Food & Beverage team.
The ideal candidate must have strong wine knowledge, excellent service skills, and the ability to deliver memorable guest experiences. This is a hands-on role involving direct service, wine presentation, and daily support of restaurant operations. You will work closely with the team to maintain service quality, assist guests, and actively contribute to the success of the outlet.
As a Service Leader - Sommelier, you will be responsible for:
- Delivering high service standards at all times within your assigned station.
- Managing wine-by-the-glass stations, ensuring correct presentation and service of all wines.
- Greeting guests, taking orders and making personalised wine recommendations based on menu pairings.
- Setting up service stations with full mise-en-place and ensuring readiness before each shift.
- Supporting team members through active collaboration.
- Handling guest feedback or complaints politely and efficiently, escalating when necessary.
- Following and maintaining hygiene, grooming, and safety standards in your work area.
- Working closely with kitchen and stewarding teams to ensure a smooth flow of service.
- Participating in monthly inventory of wines and monitoring stock usage and quality.
- Following all hotel standards and procedures, maintaining professionalism at all times.
- Attending team briefings and contributing ideas for service improvements and team development.
- Remaining flexible to support other outlets or shifts as required by business needs.
Qualifications, skills, and experience:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge of wines, wine service, and food pairing techniques.
- Excellent communication skills and a guest-focused attitude.
- Familiar with hygiene, safety and service standards.
- Flexible to work shifts, long hours, weekends and public holidays as required.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle guest complaints professionally.
- Ability to act calmly and decisively under pressure.
- Basic IT literacy, including POS systems and inventory management.
