Senior Irrigation Technician

The Senior Irrigation Technician is responsible for the programming, operation and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system(s). He/she is required to report any irregularities in course turf quality to the superintendent or assistant superintendent.

General

• Is directly responsible for the day to day key processes in his/her area of work

• Is seen as working hands-on, assists colleagues in crunch times.

• Performs any cognate duties as and when required.

Departmental

• Installation, maintenance and operation of golf irrigation systems including delivery system, pump station and automatic control.
• Good understanding of repairing HDPE pipes with fusion technology.
• Waters greens, tees and fairways.
• Operates irrigation heads in dry areas needing additional water.
• Repairs the irrigation system, pipes and irrigation heads as needed.
• Completes requests for irrigation and course parts and supplies.
• Grades and prepares soil base; lays sod; and seeds greens, tees and fairways.
• Operates dump trucks and other light equipment in hauling materials and removing debris.
• Able to manage small teams to complete irrigation related tasks such as sprinkler installation, modifications to the irrigation system, major repairs of leaks and upgrades as needed.
• Ensuring that all tasks are carried out the highest possible standard.
• Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.
• Comply with all departmental compliance requirements as set forth by Human Resources.
