The Legal Secretary provides administrative and clerical support to attorneys and legal staff in a law firm. This role involves managing legal documents, scheduling meetings, maintaining files, and ensuring the smooth operation of the legal office.
Our client in Quebec is looking for a Remote Evening Part time Legal Secretary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Document Preparation: Draft, proofread, and format legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, briefs, and correspondence.
- Filing and Record Keeping: Maintain and organize physical and electronic legal files in compliance with firm policies.
- Client Communication: Handle incoming calls, emails, and correspondence; schedule appointments and meetings with clients.
- Court Filings: Prepare and file legal documents with courts and government agencies, both electronically and in person.
- Calendar Management: Manage attorneys’ calendars, including court dates, deadlines, and meetings.
- Billing Support: Assist with time entry, billing, and invoicing processes.
- Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of all client and firm information.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a legal secretary or in a similar administrative role in a legal setting.
- Proficiency in legal terminology, procedures, and documentation.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal management software (e.g., Clio, LEAP, or similar).
- Degree or equivalent; additional legal secretarial training or certification is a plus
