Reporting to the Occupational Safety & Health Officer, the Safety & Health Assistant will act as a key contact for safety
queries, and will support the implementation of workplace safety programs, ensure regulatory compliance, to promote
a safe, hazard-free environment at LFL Riche-Terre site.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct routine site inspections, and follow up on corrective actions of safety issues as per statutory requirements
- Participate in incident and accident investigations, and report findings
- Maintain emergency equipment checklist (firefighting equipment, fire detection systems, first aid kits) for maintenance, and support emergency drills
- Coordinate safety trainings, and employee inductions and awareness
- Collect safety data and update the monthly Safety & Health Dashboard for better decision making
- Handle PPE and safety equipment procurement and distribution, and carry out surveys for stock control
- Manage the health surveillance calendar and arrange medical appointments for employees, and promote wellbeing initiatives
- Assist with preparation of documents, procedures, and corrective action for any Certification
- Maintain accurately safety documentation, filing systems, and minutes of S&H meetings
Qualification and Profile
- Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health or a related field
- Microsoft tools conversant
- At least 2 years' experience. Operations field is an advantage
- Knowledge of OSH legislation and related regulations
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Critical observation: to conduct inspections and identify hazards
- At ease with interacting with employees, contractors, auditors, and suppliers
