Role Summary
The R2R Team Lead is accountable for managing end-to-end Record-to-Report operations within the Global Business Services (GBS) organization, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. This role provides leadership and guidance to the R2R team, overseeing general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, month-end and year-end close activities, and statutory and management reporting.
The R2R Team Lead acts as a bridge between finance, audit, tax, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment of reporting with organizational and regulatory requirements. The role emphasizes process excellence, standardization, and continuous improvement across geographies, while leveraging technology and automation to drive efficiency. A key part of the role is developing the team's capabilities and maintaining a culture of accuracy, compliance, and service delivery excellence.
Role Responsibilities
R2R Operations Management
Oversee end-to-end R2R processes, including:
- General Ledger (GL) accounting.
- Fixed Assets management.
- Intercompany transactions.
- Master data management.
Manage and ensure the timely and accurate completion of:
- Month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
- Local and global reporting, tax filing, and period-end reporting.
- Journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP/Ind AS, company policies, and statutory regulations.
Governance and Stakeholder Management
Act as the key contact person for internal and external stakeholders, including:
- Global teams, counterparties, and statutory teams.
- Finance, Tax, Treasury, and Controlling teams.
- Conduct regular governance calls with customers to gather feedback and implement corrective actions.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for R2R operational issues and stakeholder queries.
Customer Service and Escalation Management
- Provide a high-quality level of customer service for all R2R-related processes.
- Drive a reduction in customer escalations by: Conducting root cause analysis and Implementing permanent corrective actions.
Compliance and Audit
- Ensure compliance with: SOX/internal controls and Statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external audit requirements by providing accurate and timely documentation.
Performance Monitoring and Process Improvement
- Monitor KPIs and SLAs, ensuring timely delivery of outputs as per expectations.
- Identify and resolve process gaps, driving standardization and automation initiatives.
- Continuously improve business process flows by adopting industry best practices.
- Support transformation initiatives, including ERP upgrades and process migrations.
Talent and Team Management
Lead and manage an R2R team, including:
- Supporting shift operations for different regions.
- Providing regular training, mentoring, and guidance to team members.
- Developing robust talent pipelines and creating backups for critical roles.
- Conducting annual performance appraisals and goal-setting exercises.
- Foster a culture of engagement, professional growth, and continuous learning.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
Technical Requirements:
- 5-8 years of experience, with at least 3 years of managing a team.
- Degree/ACCA Level 2.
- Expertise in RTR processes, including GL accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in SAP is essential.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Analytical skills for KPI management, root cause analysis, and reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Prior experience with working with countries in Africa/Europe would be advantageous.
- Fluent spoken and written French.
