Our client in the Engineering Sector is seeking to recruit a Purchasing Officer. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring timely procurement of materials and services at optimal costs as per desired quality and quantity to ensure smooth functioning of the different operations of the Company.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor Workshop production and Project activities in order to continually assess the requirement of materials & plan procurement of the same.
- Coordinate survey/ studies to forecast the availability of materials and services in alignment with business goals.
- Procure all inputs related to plan production and project activities.
- Procure all inputs related to other operations of the Company.
- Plan receipt of materials to meet target across all lines within the Company.
- Arrange approvals and Purchase Orders for timely and cost effective materials and services procurement.
- Coordinate with Finance team for ensuring timely bill passing & payment to suppliers.
- Coordinate with suppliers and transporters for ensuring material availability with the process department as per the requirements and quality parameters.
- Ensure timely generation of purchase orders for purchase of materials and services.
- Ensure proper tallying of all invoices against the Purchase Receipt Report.
- Process all daily reports (such as report on insufficient items on reservation/ Order level report etc.).
- Verify all incoming materials/ quantity requirements against the order receipt-STOREKEEPER.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Source request for quote from local.
- Negotiate mass orders with suppliers and service providers for rates, lead time, terms of payment amongst others.
- Follow up on request for quote for foreign and local orders.
- Assist the coordination of import and export with service providers.
Profile:
- HSC.
- Certificate in Procurement & Supply.
- At least 2 to 3 year's experience in a similar position.
Competencies required:
- Knowledge of parts / equipment - plates, specifications, measurements.
- Stores Administration / Stock Management procedures / methods.
- Supervisory skills.
