Job Purpose
-The core objective of the Process Development and Improvement manager (PDIM) is to optimise and make the most of all the processes. That is ensure transformation of the raw material into the finished product in the most efficient way. The PDIM is expected to identify inefficiency throughout the process and propose solution for optimisation.
-Dimensions
-This position responsibility extends to both sites of PTM (including ICL) and both shifts.
-The scope covers all processing activities involving reception and conversion of raw material to finish product at Princes Tuna Mauritius starting from fish unloading to container loading.
-Lead and develop the team of Process Research and Development officers (PRADOs across the sites).
-Deal with Factory Manager of Both sites and Production Managers the 5 production teams.

Principal Responsibilities
The main objective is to identify areas for improvement and continuously perform research work to improve process.
The Specific duties would be:

-Conduct various trial and experiments for process improvement. Including recovery improvement projects, time studies and efficiency improvement projects, etc.
-Determine the most optimum cooking recipe for different fish before the fish is used in bulk for production (Species, size and origin) through test packs.
-Take up various projects from various initiators for new process development.
-Project management - Maintain CPA, database, report for every project.
-Keep track of product formulation and final product evaluation trend (RT, MR and ICL) with the objective to continuously optimisation of product formulation.
-Assist R&D manager in experimental design for process improvement and validation.
-Plan the process control activities as per SOP on both sites. Continuous monitoring (at defined and random frequency) and keeping record and trend of various operational processes directly impacting on yield and efficiency.
-Effectively communicate any process deviation to production for immediate corrective action.
-Root cause analysis failures and accompany production to reduce failure rates.
-Ensure correct implementation of any proposed changes on production.
-Continuously looking for scope to improve the process.
-Demonstrate excellent planning skills
-Continuously work on and track the development of the individual PRADOs
-Ensure proper supervision and task distribution among the PRADOs.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

•Substantial experience in food processing.
•HACCP qualifications and experience.
•Experience with research methodologies – ability design an experiment, conduct trials, collection of data, data analysis, conclude experiment, present a proposal and accompany at implementation stage.
•Ability to handle data, compilation of data and conducting statistical analysis.
•Demonstrate excellent planning skills
•A degree in Food technology, Biotechnology, Agricultural science, Production and operational management, Mechanical engineering or any other related discipline
•Experience of team working and management of people and teams (that can be based on different sites).
•Decision making and situational analysis assessment skills
•Ability to communicate at all levels.
