Our client in the educational sector is recruiting a People & Talent Coordinator who is integral to the sound functioning of the school as well as the school’s Strategic Plan; the key performance indicators of this post are aligned with the Strategic Plan.

Job Description:

1.      Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Managing employee documentation (contracts, certificates, work permits, staff files.); developing and ensuring adherence to policies and standardised procedures; and accurately recording required training, promotions, illness, and leave
  • Is available to staff as a first port of call for any human resource-related questions, concerns or reports
  • Manages documentation via Sicorax (payroll, HR, SESS) and ensures all other staff documentation is up to date, including attendance and leave records
  • Ensures that employee records are properly maintained to meet the School’s and statutory requirements (including registrations, child protection checks,
  • other as may be required) and inform supervisors of any lapses
  • Trains and assists in staff alignment with matters related to the Staff Handbook and their professional development plans
  • Tracks all review dates and ensure that managers perform timely reviews,permit and contract renewals
  • Analyses and provides data and counsel to supervisors on leave, attendance,changed qualifications and performance improvement, and leads discussionswith staff in these areas
  • Provides the Heads of School with key information for reporting to the Board, regulatory and accrediting bodies
  • Ensures staff portals, relevant filing plans and other areas where humanresource-related information may be found by staff or members of the public are updated and relevant
  • Keeps records of former staff members

  2.     Recruitment and Selection:

  • Identifying, attracting, hiring and onboarding qualified educators and support staff to meet the staffing needs of the school Recruitment and hiring flow
  • Oversee all advertising and recruitment activities
  • As part of the recruitment team, oversee the hiring process and compliancewith the online hiring system (SchoolAlly); draft contracts and job descriptions
  • Be part of the interview panel where appropriate
  • Provide relevant counsel and data on recruitment to management for greater efficiency Onboarding and Offboarding
  • Oversee staff onboarding and documentary compliance
  • Participate in new staff orientation sessions
  • Ensure probation period reviews and pursuant documentation
  • For expatriate employees, coordinate arrival logistics and work permits
  • Ensure any sending organisation agreements are secured as needed
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyse exit data for staff turnover statistics
  • Ensure compliance with whole offboarding process by various members of staff involved
  • Keep records of former staff members

3.     Compensation and Benefits:

  • Developing and managing fair and competitive compensation packages, including salary structures and supervising employee benefits
  • Oversee medical claims by staff and the administration of elective supplemental insurance
  • Ensure updated insurances, together with the Finance Manager, and advise the executive management and/or board as necessary of relevant changes or recommendations

4.     Employee Engagement:

  • Cultivating a positive and engaging work environment by promoting staff morale/well being, reducing absenteeism, providing reward and recognition and commitment
  • Assists or leads, as may be appropriate, employee wellness initiatives such as staff buddies, prayer groups, monthly staff socials, end-of-year party and other initiatives to help staff members as may arise
  • Makes connection to church leaders for staff pastoral care as may arise
  • Assist with the coordination of the annual Staff Conference

 5.     Human Resource Information:

  • Keeping everyone informed of the most recent developments and reminders, such as safety regulations, calendar/schedule changes, any other significant event affecting employees. Utilising technology to manage and analyse HR data to enhance decision-making and administrative efficiency 

Qualifications, Skills & Training Required 

  • Relevant qualifications (Bachelor’s degree) and at least 3 years’ experience in the field of human resources
  • Familiarity with Mauritian regulations and context; educational sector experience is a plus
  • Curiosity and interest in continuous learning in the fields of human resources and education
  • Strong communication skills in written and spoken English; French and Creole language ability
  • Works autonomously and effectively in an environment where it is important that time is used efficiently, honestly and resourcefully
  • Works collaboratively and effectively in a cross-cultural context
  • Demonstrates emotional intelligence and outstanding interpersonal, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills; garners the trust of all staff members while implementing the
