Fairstone Ltd which forms part of Evaco Group is a growing and well-known construction company. We are currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer.
The job responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer includes the following but are not limited to:
Planning
- To draw internal and short-term programmes for designated sections, including subcontractor.
- To ensure areas are safe and ready for subcontractors to be given access timeously.
- Strives to work well within the contract programme.
- To closely monitor progress and take necessary measures to ensure progress does not fall behind programme.
- To issue RFI sufficiently in advance to avoid disruptions and delays.
- To ensure works are adequately resourced.
Financial
- To assist in the compilation of monthly cost value reports.
- To ensure that no avoidable costs are incurred.
- To take prompt action to stop any inefficiencies identified.
- To strive to work well within the allowables so as to maximise on contribution.
- To perform materials wastage control and labour costing to ensure corrective measures are taken immediately.
- To assist in the preparation of Subcontractor Payment Certificates.
- To assist with the cash flow management of the contracts on which you are assigned.
- To assist in ensuring claims include all works performed and all additional works, including all subcontractors’ claims.
- To ensure that actual quantities of work performed are correctly recorded at any point in time.
Contractual - To assist to monitor time bars on contractual claims and notifications.
- To assist in fulfilling contractual obligations.
- To ensure that all instructions received are cascaded down formally to internal teams or subcontractors, suppliers and the like.
- To highlight any potential contractual claims or liabilities.
- To assist in ensuring that contractual notifications and claims to subcontractors are issued timeously.
Coordination
- To regularly participate in Subcontractor Coordination Meetings.
- To coordinate needs of Clients and Consultants with site execution team.
- To coordinate activities of Safety & Health Officer to ensure smooth running of site operations.
- To assist all necessary meetings required for the smooth running of the site.
- To ensure the activities of all subcontractors are well coordinated with the activities of the main contractor.
- To ensure that all necessary sign offs are done by all subcontractors at all stages of the works.
Quality
- To ensure Quality Management System is implemented at all times.
- To review and provide suggestions on improvements to the Quality Control System / Work Instructions
- To ensure quality of the works is monitored for all activities on site from the start – including labour only, domestic, nominated, selected and direct subcontractors.
- To strive to get all activities executed right first time.
- To ensure all necessary tests on completion are performed sufficiently in advance.
General
- To assist in the setting up the site with due regards to safety, welfare and operational efficiency
- To communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including regular open communication with the workforce.
- To demonstrates a customer centric behaviour.
- To ensure Company procedures and policies are strictly adhered to.
Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant qualifications related to post.
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years proven hands on work experience.
- Strong attention to details.
- Fully IT literate with good command of MS office packages.
- Excellent communication skills - written and verbal in English and French.
