The Junior Production Assistant plays a key role in the daily operations of agricultural production, focusing on crop cultivation. This position involves a blend of administrative tasks, scientific principles and technical works within a team.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in monitoring of production targets in line with production budget.
- Ensure proper machine use planning based on production plane.
- Ensure optimization of mechanization equipment in field with proper recording of machine hours.
- Ensure efficient irrigation water application in crops to optimize yield and product quality based on the water balance calculation.
- Ensure proper use of all products used for crop production.
- Undertake field operations such as planting, equipment calibration, fertilisation, irrigation and weed management.
- Ensure proper stock control of all supplies and ensure that chemical products are well stored and delivered as per sales order issued.
- Assist in the planning activities for field workers, drivers and supervisors mentoring and monitoring them.
- Maintain and monitor the performance of crop yields.
- Assist in the making of contingency plans according to weather condition, in order to maintain production as planned.
- Assist in plant propagation activities through proper irrigation and mechanization equipment.
- Assist in the implementation of sustainable agriculture technics.
- Assist in the continuous improvement of the business productivity.
- Ensure that agricultural activities comply with quality standards.
- Ensure that production is compliant with various legal guidelines.
- Assist in the detection of pests & crop disease, recommend corrrective measures.
- Apply health and safety standards across the activities.
- Protect the environment and maintain biodiversity.
- Ensure analytical and statistical tasks based on data capture from field operations i.e T&M, irrigation hours, GPS tracking…
- Deliver reports of production time and cost as and when required.
- Keep accurate crop production records as well as planting schedules.
- Ensure proper filing following established procedures.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Basic knowledge of agricultural practices and field operations.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor degree in Agriculture or any other equivalent technical Qualification is highly preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Knowledge of pests and diseases and its corrective measures.
- Familiar with good and modern agriculture practices.
- Good Knowledge in H&S, first aid and fire awareness.
- Production and technical knowledge on field and sheltered farming.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
