Industrial Welder

We are now seeking an Industrial Welder to join our dynamic team of professionals, contributing to continuous innovation, operational excellence, and the growth of our world-class textile operations.

Established in 1989 and part of Ciel Textile, the textile cluster of CIEL Group, CDL Knits Ltd is the Fabric Mill division of the Tropic Knits Group.  Delivering high-quality fabrics to global markets, our fully integrated knitting, dyeing, and finishing facility is located in Forest Side, Mauritius.

We are now seeking an Industrial Welder to join our dynamic team of professionals, contributing to continuous innovation, operational excellence, and the growth of our world-class textile operations.

What you will be doing:

• Set up components for welding according to specifications
• Strong ability with MMA (manual metal arc) welding for a range of steels (stainless, galvanized, black mild)
• Strong ability with oxy-acetylene apparatus and silver brazing ("brasure")
• Strong ability with PVC piping, industrial piping and domestic supply piping
• Knowledge of cast iron welding and aluminum welding would be a big advantage
• Expertly welds small, medium, and large bore pipe of various metals and alloys
• Assess welded surfaces, structures and components to identify errors
• Maintain and repair all machinery
• Basic masonry works
• Basic carpentry and woodworking
• Basic plumbing works
• Attend to technical and non-technical repairs as requested by Mechanical Engineer or Maintenance Manager
• Help and assist technicians or other Maintenance personnel in completing repairs
• Report clearly and concisely on progress of works given when requested by any HOD
• Keep workplace and workshop clean and tidy at all times

What are we looking for?

• Minimum SC but preferably NC2 level or any other equivalent qualifications in welding
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed to ensure production levels are met including shift work, overtime and week ends
• At least 3-year experience as Welder
• Former experience in industrial environment (metal fabrication, pressure vessels and mechanical systems) would be a big advantage
• Good communication skills and professional behavior
• Experience in managing a team will be an advantage
