Health and Safety Officer (Part-time)

Key Responsibilities

• Policy & Compliance

  • Develop and implement health and safety policies tailored for retail and wholesale operations.
  • Ensure compliance with local occupational health and safety laws and food safety standards.

• Risk Assessment & Inspections

  • Conduct regular inspections of supermarket aisles, storage areas, wholesale warehouses, and food preparation zones.
  • Identify hazards such as wet floors, heavy lifting risks, faulty equipment, and improper food storage.

• Incident Management

  • Investigate accidents, injuries, and near misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, audits, and compliance documentation.

• Training & Awareness

  • Deliver health and safety training to staff (manual handling, fire safety, food hygiene).
  • Promote a safety-first culture among employees in both retail and wholesale settings.

• Emergency Preparedness

  • Ensure fire exits, alarms, and emergency procedures are functional and up to date.
  • Coordinate drills and emergency response plans for both supermarket and warehouse areas.

• Liaison & Reporting

  • Communicate with regulatory authorities when required.
  • Provide regular safety reports to management and suggest improvements.

Qualifications & Skills

• Diploma or certification in Occupational Health and Safety .
• Knowledge of retail and wholesale health and safety standards, including food hygiene regulations.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities.
• Previous experience in retail or wholesale environments is an advantage.

Working Conditions

• Part-time schedule with flexibility.
• Work split between supermarket floor and wholesale warehouse.
• May require weekend or evening availability for audits or emergency drills.
