The Health & Safety Officer will be responsible to coordinate, support and advise the company on all aspects related to Health & Safety. The latter will need to establish, manage and monitor standards, processes, communication and systems in line with the Occupational Safety & Health legislation.
Key roles and responsibilities
- Ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health.
- Support the development of Occupational Safety and Health policies and programs.
- Ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.
- Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work.
- To conduct and implement regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations.
- Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented.
- To ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments and working procedures are managed and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
- Ensure full and accurate health and safety and training records are maintained.
- Establish a full programme of documented health & safety inspections, audits and checks.
- Manage and plan the agenda for, chair and formulate & distribute minutes for the Health & Safety Committee meetings.
- Ensure that all agreed action points are completed within deadlines.
- Assist in the management of Covid-19.
- Provide regular reports to the People Business Partner & Managing Director on relevant health and safety activities.
- Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time.
Qualifications and Behavioral Competencies
- Undergraduate degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years proven experience in related field
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Sound knowledge of legal framework and legislations pertaining to Health and Safety issues
- Communicating effectively by conveying information and ideas in a clear, meaningful, and timely manner, providing information to ensure understanding; solicit inputs and provide open candid conversations.
