The Health and Safety Officer forms part of the HR team and will collaborate closely with the HR Manager and the QSE Team Leader in the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment at Grays Inc. ltd and Grays Distilling Ltd.
Key/Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible to work with cross functional Managers to evaluate and propose adequate health and safety practical development plans for their respective business units.
- Under the direction of the HR Manager, to ensure that health and safety policies and procedures are updated and constantly implemented as per OSHA.
- Work in close collaboration with the Internal Auditor and QSE department on the implementation and maintenance of an integrated management system based on ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001.
- Ensure to follow on the renewal of business permits/certificates for the good running of business operations.
- Ensure that Non-Conformities/Accident Forms are filled in and recorded appropriately after an incidence/occurrence and liaise with concerned parties on preventive measures.
- Conducts health and safety audits regularly and consolidate risks assessment reports for key remediation steps.
- Coordinate with the HR department on health and Safety trainings and programs to be delivered annually.
- Conduct awareness sessions on monthly basis on H&S matters to Grays employees.
- Organise and conduct regular health and safety committees with concerned departments to tackle major issues for (Grays Inc. Ltd and Grays Distilling Ltd) and work on corrective measures.
- Develop an appropriate communication channel with employees to inform on health, safety, and environment concerns.
- Make presentations and provide advice to employees as and when required on health and safety concerns.
- Liaise with the Group and Health and Safety Officer on the advancements and maintenance of the Health and Safety Management System.
- Ensure that all documentation and records are properly maintained on filing system and readily accessible when needed.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Ensure that safety shoes and uniforms are prepared and delivered in time each year by respecting company standards.
- Assist the HR Manager as and when required to give required metrics and data for Terra Sustainability Report.
- Develop partnerships with different stakeholders (Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Health& Wellness, and Ministry of Environment), training institutions etc.
- Ensure that hazards signages are well indicated in identified areas.
Education and Competences
- BSC in Occupational Safety and Health Management.
- Minimum 3 years of active experience in similar position.
- Good knowledge of OSHA.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to quickly identify a problem and is solution driven
