GLOBAL LABOUR LEGAL SPECIALIST

Air - Tec Aviation Services Limited is recruiting for a Global Labour Legal Specialist to provide labour related legal support and advisory to the different stakeholders and building the legal Aviation acumen within Operations functions across the Air-Tec Global Group.

 

  1. Play a major role in all employee relations and industrial relations matters with the support of the Human Resources Team. Chairing disciplinary/conduct related processes, whether it be disciplinary hearings/ grievance hearings/ incapacity inquiries. Representing Air-Tec at employee tribunals for related disputes & communicating with opposing legal counsel in regards to employment related disputes for the group.
  2. Provide a lead advisory role in terms of employee / contractor services agreements on a global basis.
  3. Facilitate internal training on IR or related courses and coaching HOD’s and people managers on labour relations matters. (People Management and Disciplinary Training Courses)
  4. Partner with Electronic filing specialist to ensure that all HR related code of conduct, policies and manuals are updated on the Electronic Filing system and regular updates are issued as per 28 day ERAC schedule.
  5. Drafting and or amending of aircraft lease agreement, purchase agreements as well as management service agreements within the group. This will involve occasionally liaising with Client/s in terms of contract specific information/clauses.  
  6. To support HOD’s in collating legal agreements on a monthly basis in order to produce legal management reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. This support includes training and coaching of key stakeholders to comply with reporting deadlines as set out by senior management.
  7. To be responsible for the compilation (collecting, analysing and consolidation) of the contractual agreements in place and ensure adequate physical control of such agreements are satisfactory.
  8. Develop repository or all insurance agreements and support different business units to ensure sufficient cover that meets budget requirements. Act as first point of contact for all claims and renewals with support of relevant business unit HOD. Example: Insurance Facilities – Support Services Director, Aircraft Insurance : CEO  Financial Loans: Finance Director.
  9. To co-ordinate the preparation of Legal review packages, special analysis, and information reports for management including recommendations for changes and/or improvements to aid strategic thinking for Air-Tec Global and Flight Specials.
    • Partner closely with division management to build collaborative working relationships and influence them to superior results & build shared knowledge on aviation legal terms / best practices.
    • To analyse the latest legal and Aviation related legal trends and evaluate risks, opportunities and recommend alternatives.
    • Produce variance analysis and commentary to assist division management in the control of their operations.
    • Performs various projects and ad-hoc analyses as assigned by the Senior Management and/or CEO  and/or Board of Directors.
    • In everyday dealings with Team Members and Customers, both Internal & External, uphold and embody the Air-Tec Global Mission, Vision and Values and in this way be a role model for all employees.
    • Project management & Implementation of legal Information Systems by partnering with IT and Senior Management Team. 

Educational Background:

  • Legal Degree (LLB) or equivalent qualification essential 
  • Aviation legal qualification an advantage but not essential.

 

Knowledge:

  • Minimum of 5 years practical work experience in the field of HR / Labour legal matters
  • Expert knowledge in Labour Relations Law in South Africa and Mauritius
  • A proven ability to interact with all levels within an organization
  • Knowledge & experience of Aviation Commercial Contract Terms a significant benefit
  • Fluent in English essential with French (verbal & written) preferable but not essential
  • Proven ability to work with databases / central repository systems

  • Legal diagnosis, quality management, dealing with complexity
  • Strong legal drafting of agreements and simplifying complex issues.
