Job Purpose: To perform welding, fabrication, and fitting works on port cranes and related lifting equipment (STS, RTG, spreaders, etc.), ensuring all maintenance, repair, and modification activities are carried out safely and in compliance with company standards and OEM specifications.

To perform welding, fabrication, and fitting works on port cranes and related lifting equipment (STS, RTG, spreaders, etc.), ensuring all maintenance, repair, and modification activities are carried out safely and in compliance with company standards and OEM specifications.


Key Responsibilities:

Welding and Fabrication

  • Perform welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication works on crane structures, ladders, walkways, handrails, booms, and other steel components.
  • Carry out MIG, TIG, and Arc welding on mild steel, stainless steel, and cast materials as required.
  • Ensure all welds meet required standards and specifications (visual and dimensional).
  • Perform welding repairs on cracked or worn structural and mechanical parts.

      Fitting and Assembly

  • Assist in dismantling, alignment, and fitting of crane components such as pins, shafts, booms, and frames.
  • Fabricate and assemble brackets, supports, and guards for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with mechanical technicians during preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.

      Inspection and Maintenance

  • Conduct visual inspections of welded joints and structural parts for signs of wear, cracks, or corrosion.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance, modification, and upgrading projects.
  • Maintain welding tools and equipment in good working condition.

      Safety and Compliance

  • Comply with all safety regulations, PPE requirements, and port authority standards.
  • Report unsafe conditions, near misses, and equipment defects to the supervisor.
  • Maintain housekeeping and safe work practices in workshop and crane areas.

Job Requirements:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Welding / Fabrication / Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Welder/Fitter, preferably in industrial maintenance environment.
  • Experience with oxy-acetylene cutting, MIG/TIG welding, and mechanical fitting tools.
