A retail company is looking for a Financial Controller

 

 Main Duties :

. Responsible for the supervision of the accounting team; maintenance of complete and accurate accounting records of 3 legal entities (one manufacturing, one retail; one property company)

. Distribute, train, coordinate, manage tasks of team (namely, sales accounting and reconciliation with receipts; purchases; stock, production, bank)

. Check accounting for stock (raw materials, finished products) and production

. Ensure that stock value in Point of Sale software system is identical to that of Financial Accounting software

. Ensure that sales are complete and accurate

. Review that purchases are recorded daily and associated VAT correctly accounted for

. Ensure that bank reconciliations are accurate and up to date

. Ensure timely and approved monthly management accounts before submission

. Management of year end close and preparation of annual financial statements; filing within deadline

. Liaise with auditors, banks and other external service providers

Ensure that bank reconciliations; debtors and creditors reconciliation are up to date.

. Review and approve VAT return for each entity

. Review and approve TDS returns

. Review and approve monthly returns for payroll related liabilities (NPS, NSF, PRGF, …)

. Review and ensure that profit & loss and balance sheet schedules are up to date

. Review audit and approve monthly management accounts

 

BUDGETING

 . Preparation of budget by entity

. Preparation of profitability statement by store

 

INVESTMENT APPRAISAL

. Experience in evaluation of investments (for example, is a new line of products envisaged worthwhile ?

- is the purchase of new equipment / replacement worthwhile? )

 

QUALIFICATION  

. ACCA in progress with schedule for completion / Qualified by experience

. Practical knowledge of IFRS (International Financial reporting standard )

. Experience in stock control and accounting for production

. Upgrading of accounting software

 

Key competence : 

  • Accounting Software/ Sage and others
  • committed with good communication skills 
  • Excel level ( intermediate plus )
  • Demonstrate clear understanding of  tax and VAT returns 
  • Ability to manage team and set up priority 
  • Demonstrate clear understanding of Tax and VAT issues and procedures.
