A leading India-focused private equity firm is seeking a Finance Lead to manage fund accounting, reporting, and administration for its Mauritius entities. The role involves NAV oversight, capital calls, compliance, audits, and liaison with stakeholders.

Our Client:

Our client, a leading India-focused mid-market private equity firm, is seeking to recruit an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Lead to be based in Mauritius. The firm specializes in control and co-control buyouts of high-growth Indian companies and is known for its value-creation approach, with active operational involvement in its portfolio companies. Their offshore funds are domiciled in Mauritius and regulated by the Financial Services Commission (FSC), while domestic investment vehicles in India are SEBI-regulated Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs).

The Finance Lead will be a pivotal member of the team, taking full ownership of the fund accounting, financial reporting, and administrative responsibilities for our Mauritius entities. The successful candidate will act as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders, external fund administrators, auditors, and regulatory bodies in Mauritius.

Key Role and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the end-to-end fund accounting process, including the accurate and timely review of Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations prepared by external administrators.
  • Manage the preparation, review, and execution of capital calls and distribution notices.
  • Monitor fund cash flows, liquidity, and manage treasury functions, including bank account operations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external service providers, including fund administrators, banks, legal counsel, and tax advisors.
  • Oversee day-to-day administrative operations for the Mauritius entities (e.g., Global Business Companies).
  • Coordinate the annual audit process, liaising directly with external auditors to ensure timely sign-offs.
  • Assist in the setup, structuring, and onboarding of new funds or investment vehicles.
  • Ensure full compliance with the Mauritius Financial Services Commission (FSC) regulations and other local statutory requirements.
  • Manage tax compliance, including corporate tax filings, FATCA, and CRS reporting.
  • Maintain oversight of AML/KYC procedures and corporate governance best practices for the Mauritius entities.
  • Ensure board meetings are properly scheduled, and assist in the preparation of board packs and resolutions.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to senior management and investment teams.

 Qualifications & Experience

  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACCA, FCCA, or equivalent).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum 5–10 years’ relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of fund accounting principles and financial reporting standards (IFRS).
  • Experience working with global business companies and fund structures in Mauritius would be a strong advantage.

 Key Competencies

  • Strong analytical and technical accounting skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of the finance function
  • Proactive and solution-oriented mindset
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced investment environment
