The Role: Finance & Administration Manager
- As the Finance & Administration Manager, you will be a strategic and results-driven leader responsible for overseeing financial management and banking operations across Mauritius and the African region.
- Your expertise in cross-border payments, tax legislation, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance will be essential in ensuring the company’s financial health, operational efficiency, and compliance.
- You will shape the strategic direction of finance functions, drive operational excellence, and foster strong relationships with banking partners and stakeholders across the region.
- Additionally, you will oversee administrative functions to ensure smooth organizational operations, effective resource management, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
Your Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Management & Business Growth
- Develop comprehensive financial plans aligned with business growth across multiple African jurisdictions.
- Lead initiatives related to cross-border payments, ensuring compliance and improving payment processes.
- Collaborate with banking partners and financial institutions to optimize payment systems and reduce transaction costs.
- Maintain relationships with international banks, fintech companies, and key clients to support business development.
- Oversee banking transactions, manage cash flow, and ensure financial stability.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all financial operations comply with local and international banking regulations, industry standards, and corporate governance policies.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and auditors, facilitating compliance and addressing issues proactively.
- Design and oversee tax strategies tailored to each jurisdiction, ensuring compliance and maximizing efficiency.
- Keep abreast of changes in tax and regulatory legislation across the region.
Operational Excellence
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, implementing best practices for efficiency.
- Maintain strict financial governance, supervise expenses, and ensure regulatory adherence.
- Develop and oversee payment solutions, leveraging expertise in banking, fintech, and cryptocurrency.
- Implement KPIs and reporting mechanisms to promote transparency and accountability.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate closely with senior leadership to shape and execute strategic initiatives that drive organizational growth and sustainability.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with management companies, financial institutions, regulatory agencies, and strategic partners to ensure alignment and facilitate smooth operations.
- Provide detailed financial analysis and insightful reporting to support informed decision-making and enhance stakeholder trust.
Risk & Compliance Management
- Develop, evaluate, and improve financial policies, SOPs, and controls.
- Support risk management efforts, including audit facilitation and breach resolution.
- Establish risk registers and mitigation strategies to proactively manage financial risks.
Team Management & Leadership
- Partner and collaborate with Operations and foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Liaise effectively with teams across various regions where the company conducts business, ensuring seamless communication and alignment of financial strategies.
- Promote a results-oriented, collaborative work environment that encourages innovation and accountability.
Financial Reporting & Corporate Affairs
- Prepare comprehensive management and statutory financial reports, ensuring strict adherence to IFRS standards and local regulatory requirements.
- Manage corporate affairs in accordance with governance policies, serving as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities and ensuring compliance with all statutory obligations.
Payroll Management
- Lead and oversee payroll processes, ensuring data accuracy, timely processing, and compliance with the legal requirements of various countries.
- Prepare and submit all payroll-related reports and statutory returns in accordance with local regulations.
Office & Administration Management
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Mauritius Head Office’s daily operations to maintain a safe, efficient, and compliant work environment.
- Manage budgeting, procurement, vendor relationships, and facilities management to ensure optimal operational performance.
- Coordinate the processing and renewal of occupational and work permits in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee all company and office agreements, including lease arrangements, ensuring adherence to legal and organizational standards.
- Assist the CEO with ad hoc projects, travel arrangements, and logistical support to facilitate smooth executive operations.
- Develop and enforce security protocols to protect personnel and assets effectively.
- Oversee the management and maintenance of camera systems and related security infrastructure.
- Implement and uphold data protection policies to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of organizational information.
Job Requirements
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; professional certifications (e.g., CFA) are advantageous.
- Experience: At least 5 years of senior-level financial management, with proven expertise in banking operations, cross-border payments, and corporate governance within Africa and Mauritius.
- Skills: Demonstrated leadership capabilities, strategic thinking, strong analytical aptitude, and excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of regional and local financial regulations, tax laws, and compliance standards.
- IT Proficiency: Advanced skills in MS Office suite and accounting software systems.
- Languages: Fluent in English and French, both written and spoken.
- Mobility: Willingness and ability to travel internationally on short-term assignments as required.
