Engineer- Core Network

To plan, design, implement, validate and optimize Emtel's Core Network (CS/PS/Fixed) so as to ensure that the department achieves its business objectives.

Preferred qualifications and experience:

• Engineering degree in Telecommunications (B.Eng).

• Cisco CCNA certified or equivalent and/or knowledge of current network routing protocols and standards.

• Or any other acceptable qualifications.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Ensure business continuity by minimizing service disruptions on Core Network (Health check, fault resolutions, backup, interventions and respond to NOC callouts).

2. Implement projects for Core Network as per business requirements for new deployment, expansions, and modifications as per business objectives.

3. Report on anomalies and/or degradation through KPI analysis and propose remedial actions.

4. Take proactive actions to ensure maximum network availability for Core Nodes and minimum occurrence of outages.

5. Ensure complaint resolution and provide feedback within defined SLAs

6. Promote team synergy and maintain a positive attitude.

7. Adhere to internal and external processes and controls.

 Preferred skills and aptitudes

• Basic understanding of Mobile Core, Fixed telephony and IP networks.

• Familiarity with network security, firewall and VPN technologies.

• Technical skills: GSM, UMTS, LTE, WiMAX, WiFi, FTTA, and others.

• Demonstrating analytical rigor and precision.

• Strong proficiency in written and oral communications.

• Strong interpersonal skills, with focus on customer service orientation.

• Project Management skills.
