Northfields has an exciting opportunity for a DT Teacher.
Planning, Teaching and Class Management
- Plan and deliver lessons with clear objectives and assessments.
- Set challenging tasks to maintain interest and build on prior attainment.
- Cater to individual student needs and maintain lesson structure, pace and motivation.
- Use diverse teaching methods, including questioning, resource selection and study skill development.
- Ensure effective use of time, assessments and school policies on discipline, behavior and homework.
- Contribute to curriculum development with clear targets and success criteria.
Pastoral Duties
- Act as Class Tutor, supporting the progress and well-being of students.
- Register attendance, encourage participation and address individual student concerns.
- Prepare reports, action plans and communicate with staff about student needs.
Professional Requirements
- Understand professional responsibilities and operate within school policies.
- Maintain subject expertise and uphold high standards of conduct.
- Work collaboratively with staff and contribute to school activities, meetings and events.
- Engage with parents and the learning community while pursuing personal professional development.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant subject area or B.Ed. qualification in Design and Technology
- Postgraduate Certificate of Education or a certificate of equivalence.
- Minimum of 2–5 years of teaching experience in a secondary school
- Experience in using ICT to enhance teaching and learning.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in IGCSE, A-Level and IBDP Programmes
- Previous experience in an international school setting.
