My client is looking for an experienced professional to join their Compliance team as Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer (DMLRO). The successful candidate will act as DMLRO for the company as well as for selected licensed clients, while also assisting the wider compliance function to ensure effective operations across the department.
The ideal candidate will:
Hold a relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification.
Have at least five years’ experience in the financial services sector, ideally within a management company or other FSC-regulated entity.
Meet the Financial Services Commission’s “Fit and Proper” requirements.
Possess AML/CFT certifications (e.g., CAMS, ICA Diploma in AML) – preferred.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of Mauritian AML/CFT regulations (FIAMLA, FIAML Regulations, FSC AML/CFT Handbook).
Be proficient in KYC, client due diligence, and identification/verification of UBOs.
Show proven ability in compliance, client service, and relationship management.
Be highly detail-oriented with excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills (fluent English, both written and spoken).
Have strong Microsoft Office skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
Note: Candidates with AML/CFT certifications may qualify with a minimum of 3 years’ senior compliance experience, while those with tertiary qualifications will require at least 5 years’ experience.
The DMLRO will:
Act as the primary compliance contact in the absence of the MLRO.
Review and assess internal suspicious transaction reports, escalating to the FIU when required.
Oversee client due diligence, ongoing monitoring, and customer risk profiling.
Monitor client transactions on both a real-time and post-transaction basis.
Conduct sample transaction testing and periodic file reviews.
Provide input on annual Business Risk Assessments and compliance reporting.
Attend and follow up on Risk Committee meetings.
Ensure AML/CFT registers, manuals, and compliance documentation are updated in line with legislative changes.
Assist in staff AML/CFT training and awareness initiatives.
Support internal control testing and ensure regulatory obligations under FIAMLA and FIAML Regulations are met.
Report directly to the Board or senior management and maintain ongoing communication with them.
