The Cost Accountant will develop strategies for existing factories to reduce cost and study product pricing to ensure the best possible return on investment for the company.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct regular audits, interpret rules related to accounting standards and practices and ensure compliance.
  • Plan and record variable costs (e.g. purchases of raw material and operations costs).
  • Analyse and report profit margins.
  • Identify and recommend cost-effective solutions.
  • Examine costs of production to determine the most efficient methods of production.
  • Research material costs to ensure the accuracy of the information in the company’s accounting system.
  • Analyse manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard prices to actual production costs.
  • Participate in physical inventory counts to ensure the accuracy of inventory records.
  • Monitor the accumulation of all direct labour, overhead and other manufacturing-related expenses.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • BSc degree in Finance and/or ACCA min. Level 2 qualified.
  • Relevant certifications, such as Cost Management Accountant (CMA).
  • 3+ years of experience in costings and / or manufacturing businesses.
  • Ability to think critically and make decisions based on data analysis.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in discussing financial reports with company stakeholders.
  • Computer literacy, MS Excel in particular (familiarity with VLOOKUPs and pivot tables)
  • Integrity, with an ability to handle confidential information.

Description;

The Cost Accountant main role will be to develop strategies for existing factories to reduce cost and study product pricing to ensure the best possible return on investment for the company.  He/She will be called upon to prepare budgeting report by collecting information and data points from various departments within the factory, perform month-end closing activities including journal entries and reconciliations.
