The main role of this position is to assist & support Manager Legal/Head of Legal in administrative and Legal issues.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist Head of legal in ensuring that the company’s rights act are protected through preventive and remedial action
  • Liaising with external legal advisors on specific issues/ projects requiring further legal opinion.
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents
  • Liaising with external legal advisors in respect to court proceedings.
  • Appearing in court for the Bank as required from time to time
  • Organizing, providing documents and assisting with disciplinary committees as and when required.
  • Assist in designing, developing and implementing appropriate policies, procedures and processes to support operational (for eg complaints management) and legal matters.
  • Collaborating with ICAC and preparing of Letters in respected delay of time
  • Maintenance and monitoring of all contracts for the Bank
  • Assisting external legal partners in identifying legal risk necessary
  • Providing  proactive and rapid legal opinion and advise on all legal matters affecting the business
  • Ensure proper knowledge and keeping up to date with appropriate legislations and regulatory framework for proper business conduct.
  • Replying to regulatory authorities in respected delay of time

 PREREQUISITES:

  • Degree with at least 5 years of relevant work experience in a Bank.

SKIlLS:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proactive, well-organized, detailed conscious and team player
  • A working knowledge of the Companies Act 2001, Financial Services Act 2007 and other related regulations in Mauritius.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, staff and management.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan a challenging workload.
  • Good computer skills, and in particular a good knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook email.
