He/ She will support all activities performed by the Director of Finance (DOF) and be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Finance department. The role will also assist/participate in the preparation/finalisation of Financial Statements, budget, business plan and payroll duties.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to):
- To support the Director of Finance and Administration in building the accounting and finance operational processes and practices, ensuring there are robust reconciliations between different systems and across the balance sheet
- To perform month end accounting process, supporting the Director of Finance and Administration, to deliver month end on time and to the highest standard.
- To undertake detailed financial analysis to provide insightful financial information to key stakeholders.
- To feed into the annual budget and forecasting process by detailed numbers and analysis of the P&L and balance sheet.
- Ensure timely bank reconciliations on a monthly basis.
- Liaise with HR function to ensure efficient payroll processing and develop process and procedures as required.
- Manage the monthly payroll operation and validation process in partnership with the HR department.
- Prepare and process monthly payroll journals and reconciliations.
- To assist in the preparation of the statutory financial statements, complying International Accounting Standards.
- To support the management of the audit process, providing information to the auditors and answering all queries in a timely and effective way.
- Responsible for all statutory filing (VAT, PAYE, NPS, NSF, Levy and TDS)
- To work with the tax advisers on provision of detailed information for Corporate Tax Returns.
- To manage and develop existing accounting team, helping to establish a culture of continuous improvement in the team
- To support, where required, on finance improvement projects, working with the Director of Finance and Administration to deliver projects successfully
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:
- University degree or Professional Qualification (eg: ACCA) in Accounting or Finance or equivalent
- Solid working experience in hotel accounting with a minimum of 5 years, preferably in a supervisory role
- Thorough knowledge of local accounting and tax laws.
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word and Outlook, Ametys, Opera, Sicorax (HRMS) with the ability to learn new programs when required.
- Flexible with working hours, especially at the end of the month and ability to work to tight deadlines.
