Working as part of the US Department of State, Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) team. The incumbent operates safely and efficiently an unarmored U.S Government-owned or leased motor vehicle to transport passenger and/or cargo. Works as a messenger and administrative clerk as directed.

 

This is a temporary position, contract duration not to exceed 2 years. 

This position is open for a range of experience levels. Any candidates which meet the minimum qualifications will be considered.

Chauffeur Responsibilities:                                                                                                   60%

  • As a chauffeur, receives work assignments from the Supervisory Administrative Assistant to transport State and/or other Agency personnel or cargo.
  • Operates Embassy/Consulate vehicles in the transportation of official visitors in support of U.S. Government’s official activities.
  • Assumes duty driver responsibility on a rotational basis.  Incumbent may be required to make trips that require out-of-town stays. 
  • Maintains vehicle in a clean and serviceable condition, to include cleaning the interior and exterior of the vehicle.
  • Performs basic vehicle inspection in accordance with established schedules and policies.
  • Prepares trip reports, vehicle use and fuel logs.  Estimates fuel consumption for trips. 
  • Safeguards U.S. Government property and uses U.S. Government resources efficiently, including the fuel-efficient operation of vehicles. 

Messengers Responsibilities:                                                                                                20%

  • To include mail, cargo, documents pickup and delivery, as assigned. 

Administrative Responsibilities:                                                                                           20%

  • As directed, perform administrative work; including, but not limited to, filing, tracking, and routing memorandums, coordinating transportation and messenger schedules, procurement of services and supplies, and drafting correspondences and basic reports.
  • Handles cash up to $1,000 or handle government fuel credit card for vehicle with $300 limit.

Qualifications Required

  • Completion of Secondary School (SC) is required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in driving is required.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Level II (limited knowledge) speaking/Reading/Writing in English.
  • Level III (Good working knowledge)
  • Speaking in Creole
