Arup is an independent firm of designers, planners, engineers, consultants and technical specialists offering a broad range of professional services. Currently our Mauritius office is looking for a passionate CAD Technician to be part of our Infrastructure Team.

An exciting opportunity is open to join the infrastructure team and play a key role in building the business by delivering a range of projects. We have an opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic CAD Technician with a passion for technical excellence to join our multi-disciplinary team. Our projects are local, regional and international and will allow you to work and succeed in a multi-cultural business environment

 

Main purpose of position: 

  • Preparing of civil engineering drawings for the infrastructure team, this includes all aspects of a project from scheme stage to the final details. 

  • Work closely with the Project Manager and discipline engineers to define deliverables schedules to ensure an overall concept design fits together and satisfies each discipline’s individual requirements. 

  • Support the project team by developing engineer’s concept and sketches into accurate drawings, through direct communication. 

  • Produce high quality work that is accurate, manage drawings submissions and ensure proper QA/QC protocols are implemented to meets Arup quality standards. 

  • Demonstrate an ability to communicate through sketching, drawing, presentations, and writing. 

  • Help teach engineers and new technicians the software skills necessary to be successful in their jobs. 

  • Understand priorities and meeting deadlines. 

  • Engage in the development of office BIM procedures/standards and facilitate their implantation into projects. 

 

Requirements and skills: 

  • Relevant experience in using computer tools for drafting and/or BIM modelling, e.g. AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D and Revit will be an advantage. 

  • Experience in civil/infrastructure planning (consultancy or contractor). 

  • Proven ability to develop road and infrastructure design concepts with limited input from engineers, using own experience. 

  • Ability to communicate technical issues to the project team across disciplines. 

  • Ability to work extended hours to meet project deadlines. 

  • Able to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines. 

  • Ability to work on multiple projects. 

  • Ability to take responsibility for parts of projects and support less experienced team members. 

  • Good planning and organisation skills required for our fast-paced environment.
