The Assistant Land Surveyor will be responsible for site survey activities and reporting to the Chief Land Surveyor. This role involves supporting infrastructure and construction projects.
The successful candidate will operate in a fast-paced, field-based environment and is expected to manage equipment, data, and personnel efficiently during the fixed contract period.
Main Responsibilities:
- Field Survey Operations:
- Perform topographical surveys using equipment such as total stations, automatic levels, and GPS units.
- Mark out site features and boundaries in line with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Guarantee accuracy, reliability, and completeness of collected survey data.
- Team Supervision:
- Lead a small team of site survey assistants or helpers.
- Organise daily tasks, manage equipment, and ensure smooth execution of fieldwork.
- Data Handling & Reporting:
- Transfer field data and prepare drawings using AutoCAD and/or Covadis.
- Compile survey data and present it in formats usable by engineers, architects, and site managers.
- Maintain clear and accurate survey records throughout the duration of the project.
- Coordination & Communication:
- Liaise with the Chief Land Surveyor and site management on progress, challenges, and technical needs.
- Ensure survey deliverables meet project timelines and technical standards.
- Health & Safety Compliance:
- Follow all site safety protocols and contribute to a safe working environment.
- Work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends if required by site operations.
Candidate Requirements:
- Education:
- Diploma in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably on construction or infrastructure projects.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in the use of survey instruments such as total stations, GPS, and automatic levels.
- Skilled in AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with other survey software will be an asset.
- Other Competencies:
- Good leadership and organisational skills in the field.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing site conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
- Valid driving licence (private car).
