Assistant Director of Engineering ( Four Seasons Resort Seychelles)

To provide technical support to the hotel in the area of technical management with value added engineering and to maintain the hotel product with respect to the finishes of all guest facilities, back-of-house areas and technical services infrastructure to a level that exceeds expectations.

 

General

  12. Maintains a clean and orderly work area and ensures tools & equipment are well maintained and in sufficient supply.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times to reflect the high standards of Four Seasons Hotels and ensure staff to do the same.
  2. Support the site operations as needed in the position of Director of Engineering. Able to answer calls and respond to emergencies as they arise.
  3. Hire, train, manage, supervise, schedule, motivate, positively discipline and plan the activities of engineering department team members.
  4. Complete, evaluate and follow-up on employee performance reviews and six month’s progress reports on a timely basis.
  5. Set up and ensure that effective and concise preventive maintenance schedules are followed.
  6. Plan and implement procedures, systems and controls to ensure an efficient, timely and pro-active engineering department.
  7. Establish 5 Year Plan and Department Operating Budget for submission to management covering costs of heat, light & power and maintenance & repairs.
  8. Communicate maintenance information accurately and effectively to the General Manager and Resort Manager on a daily basis.
  9. Prepare an annual, itemized, Operations and Capital Budget.
  10. Develop and update comprehensive departmental policies, procedures and manuals.
  11. Maintain all the fire Life Safety equipment in first class order. 
  12. Ensure that the fire-life-safety crew has a complete understanding of all procedures, equipment and alarms, and are trained in Emergency First Response.
  13. Set maintenance contracts through to budgeting and ensure satisfactory scope of work is completed.
  14. Compile a monthly consumption report on heat, light and power to include electricity, gas, steam and water.
  15. Ensure all engineering team members are exposed to hotel internal and external training on an on-going basis.
  16. Ensure effective inter-departmental communication and good relations between the engineering team members and members of fellow departments within the resort.
  17. Prepare and follow through on any projects as outlined by General Manager, Resort Manager.
  18. Ensure all public areas are patrolled daily and all internal and external lighting is in good order.
  19. Ensure all engineering team members are in complete uniform and well groomed.
  20. Ensure timely completion of all assigned responsibilities.
  21. Develop and maintain an energy conservation program allowing the hotel to meet its annual budget targets.
  22. Manage the logistics of stock control and stock management in line with the P&P of the finance department.
  23. Maintain a good working relationship with other employees, providing instruction and encouragement as needed.
  24. Ensure a clean, neat and organized work area, workshops and store rooms.
  25. Attend and participate in all required meetings.
  26. Respond immediately in an efficient and calm manner in any hotel emergency or safety situation. Give directives as needed to resolve and report during the situation.
  27. Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by General Manager and Resort Manager.
  28. Set up and follow the preventative maintenance schedules for all areas of the resort including eResort and Perfect Villa Program.
  29. Attend to all Operations Committee requirements and manage Town Hall meetings and Operations Committee meetings, Workplace Health and Safety Meetings and Department meetings.
  30. Maintain specific standards within engineering in relation to Four Seasons Resorts Engineering standards and policies.
  31. Manage and conduct the Sustainability Meetings on site with other departments and drive the sustainability initiative within the facility inclusive of maintaining the SSTL (Seychelles Sustainability Tourism Label) status for the facility
  32. Ensure that the monthly, weekly and daily consumption reports, water and waste water testing and readings are taken accurately and logged accordingly.
  33. Ensure that all service reports and external contractor reports are recorded and all follow up actions are undertaken.
  34. Oversee all of the Capital expenditure for the facility with the emphasis on ensuring that equipment orders meet with the standards and quality of the Four Seasons
  35. Undertake monthly P&L analysis and justification and communicate with the finance director on all matters.
  36. Create and provide timely reports on the status of physical systems and financial matters.
  37. On an annual basis, renegotiate all third party contracts for suppliers.
  38. To maintain all plant and equipment, inclusive of undertaking regular preventative maintenance and reporting and ensuring that services of plant and equipment are undertaken as per the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  39. The ability to maintain the design and architectural aspects of the facility to the owner’s satisfaction.
  40. Manage the daily activates of the department and the staff.
