We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Assistant Accountant to join our finance team.

 

The Assistant Accountant will work closely with the accounting department to perform various tasks related to financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable, and general ledger maintenance. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Accounting, General Ledger, Administration and Operations

  • Prepare journal entries and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Assist in the preparation of budget forecasts and variance analysis.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Support the finance team in ad hoc financial analysis and projects.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as relevant accounting regulations.
  • Preparation and timely filing of tax returns.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve accounting-related issues.
  • Assist with audits conducted by external auditors.
  • Updating fixed assets registers.
  • Process stock receipts and reconciliation.

 

Debt Recovery

  • Assist in supervision of the debt recovery team.
  • Help finance manager in the reporting and presentation of credit committee.
  • Able to propose new way of payment to reduce debts.
  • Implement and develop collection procedures to reduce company loss.

Cash Management

  • Prepares and process payments.
  • Manage and monitor petty cash tin when needed.

Any other cognate duties pertaining to Accounts/Debt Recovery Department.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Partly ACCA Qualified
  • 3 years minimum experience as an accounts officer
  • 4+ years total accounting or finance experience
  • Outstanding knowledge and understanding of IFRS compliance
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
  • Significant experience working with external auditors, internal controls, and compliance-related issues.
  • Dynamic and team spirit.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
  • Meticulous
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Trustworthy and abides to confidentiality protocols.
