The Air Conditioning Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration systems and should be able to work in industrial and commercial settings.
- To install, inspect, maintain, and repair air conditioner.
- To evaluate equipment and controls making sure they operate efficiently and continuously.
- To perform regular maintenance work on cooling units.
- Should be able to diagnose electrical and mechanical defects and malfunctions.
- To install, replace, or repair equipment that has been damaged.
- To make adjustment and do calibrations of thermostatic controls.
- To install new air-conditioning systems and equipment.
- They inspect and maintain refrigerators and ice machines, and chilled water supply systems.
- To clean blowers and coils, check tensions of belts and motors.
- They make plans and designs of new air-conditioning systems including their installation and maintenance.
- For chillers (mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems), check chilled water pipes for leakage, damaged insulation and rusting parts or components and rectify as required.
- Check and clean FCU filters, repair noisy FCU fans, chocked drain pipes and condensation drip.
- For cold rooms (positive and negative), keep record daily in logbook of temperature readings.
- For fridges, check repair or replace as required for defective thermostat, compressor, punctured tube, door gasket, starting relay, associated electrical circuit and timer.
