The primary purpose of the Accountant is to assist the Singita Mauritius Finance department in the administration of the overall accounts and other finance duties within the entity.

 

Key Responsibilities 

The primary purpose of the Accountant is to assist the Singita Mauritius Finance department in the administration of the overall accounts and other finance duties within the entity. The Accountant will record and reconcile customer accounts and supplier accounts, as well as to prepare the weekly and monthly payments to suppliers. 

The Singita Travel team aims to provide a professional service to guests who make direct contact with Singita; enhance the guests travel experience; and maximise revenue flow whilst providing expert travel advice. The Accountant assists the team by fulfilling the following functions:

  • Process sales and cost of sales on the accounting system.
  • Verify, record and reconcile customer invoices, daily.
  • Update payment receipt schedules and advance deposit schedules.
  • Verify, record and reconcile supplier invoices, weekly.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly payments to suppliers.
  • Update weekly supplier payment schedules.
  • Prepare and send weekly remittance to suppliers.
  • Update prepaid expense schedules.
  • Assist with external auditors and other administrate enquiries.
  • From time-to-time, assist with other reasonable duties as required.

Skills & Experience

  • Be of Mauritian descent or a holder of a valid work permit.
  • Fluency in French and English.
  • ACCA Level 2 with at least 3 years’ experience in a comprehensive accounting environment
  • A good understanding of general accounting principles.
  • Above average proficiency of the accounting software package, SAGE Pastel.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Demonstrates accuracy with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
  • Experience on Internet banking platforms
  • Strong interpersonal skills (emotional intelligence).
