Under the general direction of the Canteen Supervisor or designate, and within the limits of established Inter Continental Hotels Group brand and hotel policies and procedures, the Canteen Attendant is responsible for all food preparations for the Staff Canteen.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Receive and execute instructions from the Canteen Supervisor.
• Assist the Canteen Supervisor in the planning of all menus to be served in the staff restaurant according to the policies of the HR Department regarding staff meals – variety, quantities, dietary constraints, preferences etc.
• Assist the Canteen Supervisor in planning supplies in advance and ensure availability of food and beverage commodities for the staff restaurant on time.
• Prepare designated food and beverages [eg. Tea coffee, vegetable mise en place] items to be served in the canteen according to established schedules and as directed by the Canteen supervisor.
• Ensure that food is always prepared to the highest standards in terms of quality.
• Ensure that strict hygiene conditions are observed for the storage of food commodities and during the preparation of meals.
• Ensure maximum efficiency of service of food to staff by optimising liaison between the canteen Supervisor and cooks and distribution counter. Refilling of food for the buffet during meal periods
• Keep the staff restaurant premises in an excellent state of tidiness, cleanliness and maintenance at all times
• Clean all tables tops and chairs
• Clean buffet between service
• Refilling of clean materials (small operating equipment ie, glass, crockery, cutlery) from dishwashing area to Staff restaurant.
• Assist the Staff Restaurant Supervisor to manage the costs of operating the staff restaurant and ensure that the budget allocated is put to effective use.
• Perform any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Canteen Supervisor or Head of Department.
