We are seeking an experienced Sommelier / Responsable des Caves to lead our wine retail operations and deliver an exceptional customer experience.
This dual role blends expert wine knowledge with hands-on retail management, sales leadership, and team development, while reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
• Deliver exceptional wine service and expert recommendations to guests.
• Advise on wine and food pairings to create memorable dining experiences.
• Maintain a high-quality wine and beverage selection.
• Conduct tastings, product demonstrations, and customer education sessions.
• Stay up to date with wine trends, regions, producers, and new products.
• Promote premium products and drive upselling opportunities.
RETAIL & STORE MANAGEMENT
• Oversee daily retail operations to ensure smooth and efficient performance.
• Manage inventory & stock rotation, ordering, and supplier relationships.
• Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to achieve revenue targets.
• Ensure visual merchandising and store presentation meet brand standards.
• Handle customer feedback and resolve issues professionally.
SUPPLIER & PROCUREMENT MANAGEMENT
• Liaise with wine suppliers and distributors to source quality products.
• Evaluate new wine selections and maintain supplier relationships.
• Keep accurate records of stock and procurement.
PEOPLE & LEADERSHIP
• Lead, train, and motivate the retail team on product knowledge and service standards.
• Coordinate team schedules and drive performance to support store operations.
• Foster a welcoming, knowledgeable, and sales-driven team culture.
COMPLIANCE & ADMINISTRATION
• Ensure compliance with licensing, health and safety, and alcohol regulations.
• Manage POS systems, cash handling, and basic reporting.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
• Proven experience as a sommelier or wine specialist.
• Strong knowledge of international wines, spirits, and beverage trends.
• Retail management or supervisory experience preferred.
• Excellent communication, sales, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
