The Financial Analyst (Africa Region) provides financial insights and decision-making support across multiple African operations within the service industry. The role ensures that financial performance is monitored consistently, regional risks are assessed, and opportunities for growth and efficiency are identified across diverse African markets. The Financial Analyst bridges the gap between group leadership and operational teams, translating complex financial data into clear, practical guidance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Support preparation of budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial models for multiple African entities.
- Monitor country-by-country performance, analyze variances, and provide consolidated reporting to senior leadership.
- Translate local financial data into group-level insights for strategic planning.
- Conduct stress testing to support risk-aware business planning.
- Lead financial due diligence for acquisitions, partnerships or joint ventures in the region.
Regional Reporting & Insights
- Prepare monthly and quarterly consolidated reports for Africa operations.
- Provide analysis on country-level profitability, cost drivers, and performance against KPIs.
- Benchmark performance across countries to identify best practices and underperforming areas.
- Prepare key financial & qualitative templates for the Board Pack
Cross-Border Compliance & Controls
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP) and local statutory requirements across jurisdictions.
- Liaise with local finance teams, external auditors, and tax advisors to maintain compliance.
- Monitor regional risks (foreign exchange, inflation, taxation changes) and propose mitigation strategies.
- Support implementation and monitoring of internal controls to safeguard assets and mitigate operational risk.
Business Partnering
- Collaborate with country managers, HR, and operations leaders to provide financial guidance tailored to local realities.
- Support investment decisions (e.g., new markets, service line expansions) with financial feasibility studies.
- Act as the finance liaison between group leadership and in-country finance teams.
Operational Efficiency
- Track and analyze regional cost structures, recommending efficiency improvements.
- Support pricing, service delivery costing, and contract profitability across diverse African clients.
- Identify opportunities to optimize working capital, cash flow and resource allocation.
- Develop dashboards and KPIs to monitor performance and support data-driven decision-making.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical, modelling, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent cross-cultural communication and stakeholder management.
- Ability to consolidate and interpret financial data across multiple jurisdictions.
- Knowledge of African market dynamics, including FX risks, tax regimes, and local compliance.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools; accounting systems experience (Xero) is an advantage.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- Professional qualification (CIMA, ACCA, CFA, or CPA) preferred.
- 5+ years of financial analysis experience, ideally with multi-country or regional exposure in Africa.
- Prior experience in a service industry (consulting, outsourcing, logistics, professional services, etc.) is an advantage.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in French or Portuguese highly desirable for regional coordination.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and remote finance stakeholders.
