Head of English Department
Main Responsibilities
1. Academic Leadership
Lead the design and coordination of a high-level English curriculum, ensuring coherent teaching and assessment practices aligned with the French national curriculum, the CEFR, and the standards of the British International Section.
2. Team Coordination & Leadership
Provide strong departmental leadership by chairing meetings, mentoring new teachers, fostering innovative teaching practices, and participate in the recruitment process.
3. Student Monitoring
Monitor and analyse academic performance, implement targeted action plans, and promote inclusive practices through effective differentiated instruction and support for students with special educational needs.
4. Development & Projects
Drive the development of English-language cultural initiatives, strengthen local and international partnerships, oversee external examinations, and enhance the school’s visibility and outreach.
5. Strategic Contribution
Contribute actively to whole-school strategy by participating in the pedagogical council, supporting the school development plan, driving innovation in language education, and strengthening coordination with partner schools, including the designated 'sector' lycée.

Profile
• Qualified English teacher.
• Proven experience (minimum 5 years recommended).
• Previous coordination experience preferred.
• Full professional proficiency in English (C2 level), ideally native speaker.
• Strong knowledge of the French education system.
• Thorough understanding of the British International Section curriculum and academic expectations.
• Knowledge of the AEFE context is a significant asset.
