The Assistant Credit Controller supports the Credit Control function by ensuring timely collection of outstanding payments, monitoring customer accounts, and maintaining accurate credit records.

 

Job Purpose: 

The Assistant Credit Controller supports the Credit Control function by ensuring timely collection of outstanding payments, monitoring customer accounts, and maintaining accurate credit records. The role assists in reducing credit risk, improving cash flow, and maintaining strong customer relationships while upholding company credit policies.

Key Responsibilities

•    Assist in monitoring customer accounts to identify overdue payments.
•    Contact customers via phone, email, or written correspondence to follow up on outstanding invoices.
•    Negotiate payment arrangements and ensure commitments are met.
•    Maintain an up-to-date debtors’ ledger.
•    Escalate high-risk or problematic accounts to the Credit Controller.
•    Support the Credit Controller in preparing monthly aged debtor analysis.
•    Process new customer credit applications, ensuring all required documents are collected.
•    Conduct basic credit checks and prepare recommendations.
•    Update customer account details and maintain accurate records in the accounting system.
•    Reconcile customer statements and resolve payment discrepancies.
•    Assist in issuing invoices, credit notes, and statements when required.
•    Match receipts with invoices in the system and ensure correct allocation.
•    Support in preparing documentation for internal and external audits.

•    Prepare weekly or monthly reports on outstanding debts, payments received, and credit risk indicators.
•    Highlight overdue accounts and contribute to forecasting cash inflows.

 

Job Requirements

•    Minimum HSC or equivalent; a certificate/diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business is an advantage. 
•    1–2 years’ experience in credit control, finance, or accounting administration. 
•    Experience in customer service or collections is an asset.
•    Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
•    Good negotiation skills.
•    Good planning and coordinating skills.
•    Good analytical skills and at ease with figures.
•    Proficiency in MS Office
•    Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
