The Sustainability Manager plays a pivotal role in assisting the Head of department to drive sustainability initiatives within the bank
The Sustainability Manager plays a pivotal role in assisting the Head of department to drive sustainability initiatives within the bank. He / She will work closely with the bank’s stakeholders to integrate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into the bank’s operations and ensuring compliance with relevant sustainability standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in creating and executing sustainability strategies that align with the bank’s goals and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and assess sustainability-related risks and opportunities. Assist in developing and implementing strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities, e.g., sustainable finance.
- Collect, analyze, and report on ESG metrics.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of sustainability programs and initiatives.
- Communicate sustainability goals and progress to employees, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Assist in defining business requirements and reporting them back to stakeholders.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals, budgets and reports about Bank’s Corporate Strategies for review.
- Monitor financial planning and forecasting processes.
- Conduct analysis to drive further insights and opportunities about business which including working with EXCO members regarding their business unit.
- Preparation of the monthly reporting.
- Identify and assess sustainability-related risks and opportunities. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
- Ensure the bank complies with environmental regulations and sustainability standards.
- Stay updated on relevant ESG laws and guidelines.
- Adhered to SLAs with internal & external customers.
- Assist in the development and delivering of training programs on ESG topics.
- Promote awareness of sustainability initiatives within the organization.
PREREQUISITES:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Sustainability or any related field.
- Advanced degrees or certifications in sustainability or ESG are advantageous.
- Previous experience in a sustainability role or related field, preferably within the financial sector.
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting standards (e.g., GRI, SASB) and tools are advantageous.
SKILLS:
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in data analysis and ESG reporting tools.
- Excellent project management and strategic thinking skills.
- Experience in sustainability reporting and compliance is a plus.
