We are looking for an Immediately Available Assistant Accountant, Outsourced Accounting, supports the accounting team in maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with the preparation of accounting information.

 

  • ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Accounting Support

    • Assists with the preparation and maintenance of accounting records for client engagements
    • Performs routine accounting tasks including data entry, transaction processing, accounts receivable processing and maintaining supporting schedules
    • Assists with bank, balance sheet and other account reconciliations
    • Maintains organised, accurate and complete supporting documentation for accounting records and transactions
    • Ensures work is completed accurately and in accordance with company procedures and internal controls
    • Identifies, investigates and escalates discrepancies, unusual transactions or issues to the Junior Accountant, Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager where appropriate
    • Applies problem‑solving and analytical skills to routine accounting queries and issues

    Client Service Support

    • Supports the accounting team in delivering work to clients in line with agreed timelines, service standards and client‑specific requirements
    • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to changes in client requirements and priorities
    • Prioritises excellent client service through timely completion of client requests and deliverables
    • Communicates professionally and effectively in all interactions with clients and colleagues
    • Contributes to maintaining the reputation and brand of the Acumen Group through high‑quality work and professional conduct

    Operational Support

    • Assists the team in maintaining accurate, well‑organised accounting records and documentation
    • Works within established accounting processes, procedures and internal controls
    • Is comfortable working remotely and using digital collaboration tools
    • Is proficient in Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, MS Excel, Outlook, ERP systems and remote desktop environments
    • Demonstrates a proactive approach to learning and developing technical accounting knowledge
    • Takes initiative in completing assigned tasks and accepts additional duties when required
    • Supports the team in improving processes and maintaining efficient workflows

    Team Collaboration & Development

    • Works effectively both independently and as part of a broader, geographically dispersed team
    • Collaborates with team members to support the delivery of high‑quality client service
    • Actively seeks feedback and guidance to support ongoing learning and development
    • Participates in training opportunities to build accounting knowledge, systems proficiency and professional skills
    • Contributes positively to a collaborative, supportive and professional team environment

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Basic understanding of accounting principles
    • Experience in accounts receivable processing
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
    • Strong organisational, time‑management and prioritisation skills
    • Problem‑solving and analytical capability
    • Ability to adapt to changing client requirements and a fast‑paced, evolving environment
    • Ability to work independently or within a team, including in a remote working environment
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Willingness to learn and develop technical accounting skills
    • Proactive mindset with the ability to identify issues and escalate appropriately
    • Knowledge of the reinsurance environment would be an advantage
