Job Advert – Logistics Officer

Job Description:

The job incumbent shall be responsible to plan, coordinate, monitor and manage all activities pertaining to the Logistics Department. He/She must ensure that the mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems of lorries are checked and controlled on a regular basis and that preventive maintenance is carried out on all trucks. The job holder shall also be responsible for proper follow up for servicing, fitness, insurance, renewal among others. The incumbent must ensure that all logistics processes and procedures are strictly followed.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement delivery schedules in line with customer requirements.
• Optimize the utilization of bulk delivery trucks through effective and well-planned scheduling.
• Monitor and control all truck-related expenses to ensure cost efficiency.
• Ensure all delivery procedures are followed and consistently adhered to.
• Maintain high service standards by ensuring drivers and attendants represent the company professionally during deliveries at client sites.
• Provide recommendations and advice to management on matters related to logistics and fleet management.

Profile of the Ideal Candidates

• Diploma in logistics, Management or any relevant field relating to supply and distribution chains.
• A Higher School Certificate.
• A minimum of 3 years work experience in similar position in a dynamic business environment.
• A valid driving licence.
• Technical experience as heavy vehicle mechanics would be an advantage.
• Proficient in computer applications and systems.
• Strong knowledge of the geography of Mauritius.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good command of both written and spoken English and French.
• Willingness to work on a shift system and during irregular/extended hours.
