The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the housekeeping staff and ensuring that all guest rooms and common areas are always clean and welcoming.
The role includes:
Supervising and training housekeeping staff: Ensuring staff are well-rganized and perform their duties efficiently.
Creating a cleaning schedule: Managing daily cleaning tasks and ensuring all areas are cleaned properly.
Inventory control and ordering of supplies: Maintaining inventory and ensuring all supplies and equipment are available for the housekeeping staff.
Communicating with management and guests: Ensuring satisfaction and addressing any concerns or complaints.
Conducting inspections of rooms and common areas: Ensuring cleanliness standards are met and maintaining a safe environment.
Delegating tasks and ensuring timely cleaning: Assigning tasks and ensuring all areas are cleaned in a timely manner.
Following safety procedures and maintaining equipment: Ensuring the safety and proper functioning of cleaning equipment.
Maintaining records and reports: Keeping records of attendance, timekeeping, and other relevant information.
Resolving customer complaints and concerns: Addressing and resolving guest complaints in a timely manner.
- Includes overseeing daily housekeeping activities, assigning tasks to staff, and inspecting rooms and common areas to ensure they meet established standards. They also manage inventory and ensure that all supplies and equipment are available for the housekeeping staff.
- In addition to managing the team, Housekeeping Supervisors may also train and evaluate new staff, create schedules, and assist with budget forecasting. They must be detail-oriented and organized, with excellent communication and leadership skills.
Profile and qualifications required :
- Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly at all times.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills to be able to get along well with co-workers and customers/clients
- Must be willing and able to work as part of a team or even lead a team when called upon to do so
- Must have good coordination and organizational abilities
- Must be someone that is trustworthy/honest. This is important because the supervisor may be in charge of looking after people’s personal belongings
- Must be proactive in carrying out assigned duties
- Must have good time management abilities
- Must be good at decision making
- Must have a good knowledge of customer service principles
- Must have relevant experience in housekeeping (preferably in a supervisory role).
- Should have at least a diploma or degree in a hospitality-related field
