The role requires strong leadership, operational control, and continuous oversight of ramp operations to ensure service delivery excellence, safety compliance, and operational readiness at all times.

 

The Ramp Operations Manager holds full operational accountability for the safe, compliant, and efficient management of all ramp and airside activities. 


MAIN DUTIES :

  • Assume full responsibility for the end-to-end management of ramp and tarmac operations, ensuring all aircraft ground handling activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with regulatory, airport, airline, and company standards.
  • Exercise direct operational command of all ramp personnel, including supervisors, team leaders, and ground handling staff, ensuring clear task allocation, discipline, and accountability.
  • Enforce strict compliance with Safety Management Systems (SMS), ramp safety procedures, airside driving regulations, and aircraft handling manuals. 
  • Lead and monitor aircraft turnaround operations, ensuring on-time performance as per Service Level Agreements(SLAs) while maintaining the highest safety standards under operational pressure.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, safety inspections, and ramp audits, identifying hazards and implementing corrective and preventive actions without delay.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for airside incidents, accidents, delays, equipment damage, or operational disruptions, ensuring immediate response, investigation, reporting, and follow-up.
  • Coordinate closely with airlines, flight operations, load control, engineering, airport authorities, and third-party service providers to ensure seamless ground operations.
  • Manage manpower planning, shift rosters, and resource allocation to meet fluctuating operational demands while maintaining compliance with duty time limitations.
  • Oversee ramp equipment availability, serviceability, and utilisation, ensuring defects are reported, controlled, and rectified in accordance with procedures.
  • Drive performance management, including staff evaluations, coaching, corrective actions, and disciplinary processes where necessary.
  • Ensure all ramp personnel are competent, trained, and certified, and actively support recurrent training, competency checks, and operational briefings.
  • Prepare and submit operational reports, safety reports, incident investigations, and management summaries as required.
  • Champion a strong safety culture, professionalism, and operational discipline across all ramp activities.

 

Minimum Requirements :

  • Degree or minimum of 7 years’ experience in Ground Operations or any acceptable qualifications by the management,
  • Demonstrated experience managing teams in a live airport operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ramp safety procedures, aircraft handling operations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven leadership, decision-making, and crisis management capabilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.
