It ensures accurate budgeting, cost tracking, revenue recognition, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle. Working closely with finance teams, and operational departments, the role supports informed decision-making and maintains financial integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Financial Management
- Prepare and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost control reports.
- Track, monitor, and analyze project expenditures against approved budgets.
- Validate and process project-related invoices, purchase orders, and payment certificates.
- Ensure proper allocation of costs to the correct project codes and cost centers.
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly project financial statements, dashboards, and variance analyses.
- Report on project profitability, cash flow, and work-in-progress (WIP).
- Provide timely financial insights to project managers and senior management.
- Support preparation of project audits and external reporting requirements.
Billing & Revenue Management
- Prepare and review client billing according to contract terms and milestones.
- Ensure revenue recognition aligns with IFRS and internal accounting policies.
- Follow up on outstanding receivables and support collection efforts.
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure all project financial activities comply with internal controls, policies, and statutory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and complete project financial documentation.
- Assist in year-end audit processes and support compliance audits.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with project managers to interpret financial performance and guide decision-making.
- Liaise with procurement, operations, and finance teams for accurate cost tracking.
- Participate in project review meetings and provide financial insights.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional qualifications (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CPA) are an advantage.
- 3-4 years accounting experience, preferably in project-based industries (engineering, construction, energy, IT, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of project accounting principles and cost control.
- Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis.
- Solid understanding of revenue recognition and budgeting
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good planning and coordinating skills.
- Analytical mindset with emphasis on root cause and prevention.
- Must be available to work odd hours and meet tight deadlines.
- A team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Being a Self-starter and self-motivated is critical.
