A Hotel Handyman is responsible for maintaining the hotel’s facilities, guest rooms, and public areas to ensure safety, functionality, and guest satisfaction.
• Perform general maintenance, repair, and minor construction work throughout the hotel premises.
• Respond promptly to guest requests or complaints related to maintenance or repair issues.
• Ensure guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house, and external areas are maintained in good working condition.
• Carry out basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, tiling, welding, and minor electrical repairs as required.
• Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and prevent potential breakdowns.
• Comply with safety regulations and carry out regular safety checks in assigned areas.
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs or replacements of fixtures, fittings, and equipment using appropriate hand and power tools.
• Advise management when equipment or facilities may be unsafe for continued use.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, and work orders in line with standard procedures.
• Coordinate with other hotel associates to ensure maintenance work does not disturb guests.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and management regarding maintenance issues, progress, and requirements.
• Assist during emergencies by operating generators, floodlights, and providing support as required.
• Participate in special projects and carry out other duties as assigned by management.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and materials in good condition; negligence or voluntary damage may lead to disciplinary action.
• Work flexibly, including shifts, weekends, and emergencies, as operational needs require.
• Delays are not acceptable unless justified by a valid reason; punctuality and efficiency are essential to the Maintenance Department rhythm.
• Regardless of specialization, assist colleagues or request assistance when required—teamwork is an essential part of the role.
• Build and maintain good working relationships with internal and external customers.
• Ensure quality standards and company policies are respected at all times.
