We are seeking an experienced and highly operational HR Manager who can work independently, confidently navigate local employment legislation, and provide strong, hands-on HR support across the business.

 

Job Title: HR Manager

An organisation is seeking an experienced and highly operational HR Manager who can work independently, confidently navigate local employment legislation, and provide strong, hands-on HR support across the business. The ideal candidate will be highly engaging, collaborative, and capable of building strong relationships at all levels of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Oversee day-to-day HR operations and act as the primary HR point of contact for assigned business clusters

  2. Manage end-to-end monthly payroll processes with accuracy and strict confidentiality

  3. Ensure full compliance with Mauritian labour laws and statutory obligations

  4. Apply practical and up-to-date knowledge of the Workers’ Rights Act 2019

  5. Manage employee grievances professionally and ensure timely and fair resolution

  6. Handle Industrial Relations (IR) matters, including disciplinary processes and employee representation

  7. Support recruitment, onboarding, and the full employee lifecycle

  8. Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks

  9. Provide guidance, advice, and coaching to managers and employees

  10. Lead performance management cycles and support talent development initiatives

  11. Prepare and analyse HR reports, metrics, and workforce data

  12. Drive employee welfare initiatives, including engagement activities, team-building events, and CSR programmes

  13. Promote a positive organisational culture and support employee well-being

  14. Represent the organisation effectively in external HR-related matters

Requirements

  1. 7–8 years of experience in HR management or a senior HR generalist role

  2. Strong knowledge of Mauritian labour laws, including the Workers’ Rights Act 2019

  3. Proven experience in grievance handling and Industrial Relations case management

  4. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage HR operations end-to-end

  5. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills

  6. High standards of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
